About Paul
Paul McKinley moved to Wilmette in 2017 to start a family. As a new dad he is deeply invested in the future of the village. Paul has over 15 years of experience in finance, and is well equipped to restore accountability to the Wilmette Park District.
Why I'm Running
The Wilmette Park District is facing a $5M lawsuit, purchased $5.4M property with money it doesn't have, and has experienced a exodus of senior management. I will restore transparency and integrity to one of Wilmette's greatest assets.
My Priorities
Financial Responsibility
I do not support the recent trend of issuing debt without a clear need and resident support. Beth Hillel was purchased using $5.4M of debt that will eventually be paid by tax payers. Yet the Park Board does not know what it will do with the property. Referendums should be held for major capital expenditures.
Open & Free Parks
The Park District’s role is to facilitate public enjoyment of nature, not restrict it. I will work to ensure a safe and well-managed environment, accessible to all.
Community Involvement
Decisions should be made in consultation with village residents. The Park District should work for the people, and not the other way around.
